I have heard alot about this phenomenon, eg. the power of group meditation, power of prier, rat experiments, and energy transference in a room, the affect of Ice crystal formation with an emotion, and communication yogurt.

Synchronicity is a phenomenon I am alert to and take notice of all the time, even when in conversation with my clients. Clients talk to me for their own reasons but I a aware that I too am learning from them. and at time a subject comes up that is happening in the clients life that I was just reading about, as if the universe was preparing be for that person.

For example, in regard to influencing the Random Event Generator, or the lamp which changes colors based on an REG engine, it seems as if an act of will is involved. Someone is consciously seeking to manipulate the behavior of the device. In contrast, at least in Dr. Dave’s story of the Ram Dass quote being delivered during a conversation with his sister about Ram Dass, there was no willful manipulation. If anything, it suggests perhaps a subconscious connection, which is the basis on which Dr. Jung suggested synchronicity typically occurs, as in the famous story of the beetle flying into the room as his patient discussed a dream involving a scarab. Does anyone else see a distinction between these two types of effects?

Finally, this podcast brought to mind the work of Rupert Sheldrake who has experimented with a similar phenomenon, the sense of being stared at. He posits that at a rate greater than random chance, people can detect that another person either is or is not looking at the back of the person’s head. He also suggests a theory he refers to as spiritual fields as a first attempt to explain how the phenomenon may occur.

It will be interesting to see if, as Dr. Dave muses, these ideas and the research to test and refine them will gain traction going forward. I, for one, hope they do.
